How To Plan For A Residential Dumpster
We are here to help your entire dumpster rental process go smoothly. Part of our service includes helping our customers plan for their residential dumpster. Planning for a few key things will go a long way to improve your efficiency using a 10-, 20-, or 30-yard dumpster to clean up at your home or business.
When thinking about the process, let’s start with what dumpster you need.
We offer three sizes of dumpster to fit any project. A 10-yard dumpster is typically used for smaller jobs requiring around 1 ton of disposal. A 20-yard dumpster offers more room and 2 tons of disposal standard. Larger jobs or those that require multiple loads will often use a 30-yard dumpster with 3 tons of disposal included standard. All our dumpsters will accept more tonnage for an additional fee. Read our FAQ here for more info on how much material can be safely loaded in a dumpster. Calling us is the easiest way to get help determining what size dumpster you need.
Location, location, location.
Next, we will need to choose the drop off location. Creating the shortest distance and easiest access from your work area to the dumpster is always a wise consideration. Allow approximately 20’ in length and 9’ in width of pavement, concrete or hard compact ground for your dumpster to sit on. It’s also a good idea to be prepared with some plywood or other type of ground protection to make sure the dumpster does not leave any marks on the pavement. Remember that the truck will need clear access of at least 30 feet in front of the dumpster to drop off and pick up.

Now we can talk about loading the dumpster. Plan to put the largest and heaviest items in your dumpster first. A Sawzall and a few good blades will make it easy to cut down furniture into manageable pieces. Its good practice to leave minimal air gaps so try to stack any bulky items. Neatly placing trash lumber and drywall instead of throwing it in the top can save a lot of space in your dumpster. Always remember to wear good gloves and protective eyewear when working.
Pickup
When you’re finished with your dumpster you can call or email us to schedule pickup. We will contact you a few days prior to the end of your 10-day rental period to schedule if we haven’t heard from you, and if you need more time that’s okay! We can extend your dumpster rental for $8/day after the first 10 days. After your dumpster has been emptied, we will send you a receipt showing the tonnage disposed of.
